MAC Week 1 Wimba Archive

Since I was unable to attend the Week 1 Wimba, I am proving the notes, thoughts, questions and observations I made while watching the Wimba archive.

I have to admit this is a bit of a "stream of consciousness", being comprised of notes to myself, questions, ideas, and observations I came up with as I watched.

I like to organize my thoughts and notes, so you'll notice this blog entry is color coded to make questions, thoughts, and self notes easy to identify and find.

Black is thoughts and observations.
Red is questions (or notes) I have for the instructor
Blue is notes to self and things for me to remember

First things first:

Contact info notes: edm613@me.com is faster

Question: but which do you prefer? If we use one address, should we cc to both addresses?

Sound quality: I have to say it was kind of difficult to hear and understand you in some parts, the sound was a bit low. I'm not sure if this a result of the archive download, or the mic used. I did notice that using headphones helped, because i could get the sound higher.

When looking at assignment requirements, when in doubt, go with FSO (vs videos).

Prof. Bustillos, I am curious, will Full Sail EMDT consider changing name of this course(Media Asset Creation), since it is not so much about Media Asset Creation any more and more about putting together the final project?

From what I can tell, it seems this month is mostly comprised of blogging and discussion boards(aside from making sure website is up to date).
Am I correct in thinking this?

Note to self: have blog posts done by Friday!

Spring Break is this month! I almost forgot about that which is funny since I teach at FS.

So Week 2 is due end of week 3.

(Note to self: get stuff done over spring break!!)

I do have a question about our CBR website: I got email from Dr. Bedard with changes to make. I made those changes and emailed back. Is there something else I need to be doing for my website at this point?

I am wondering, aside from double checking website and making changes specified by Dr. Bedard, is there anything else i need to be concerned about for my website this week/week 2?
Answer: from wimba: Yes - abstract.

When should we have the abstract done? I didn't feel this was clear in Wimba. From what i can see in FSO activities, I think it's due at end of week 2, when Capstone website is due. Is this correct?

Leadership project notes:

Basically about presenting CBR
Either writing article or creating presentation for conference

(I would prefer to do article)

Week 1 - blog post on leadership role model (I have to admit I'm not sure what to write for this...)
Week 2 - blog post on which doing: publish or present
Week 3 - where publish or presenting
Week 4 - First draft of article/presentation

I am glad this was discussed in Wimba, because previously, based on reading activities for this month I thought we had to have the article or presentation COMPLETE by this month.
But this month is just thinking about what we're going to do, and getting ready, making first steps to creating that presentation.

Is that right?

I have to admit, this is a bit confusing.

Later in wimba, when speaking about month 12, it seems like we have to have presentation ready to present by start of month 12

But then when discussing the Leadership project document, it sounds like the first draft is due by end of month 11.

Prof. Bustillos, what do we need to have complete by end of month 11? Is it just the first draft or the entire presentation/artlcle?

Other than the draft for the presentation/article, and the blog posts, I wonder if there are other elements of the Leadership project? Nothing is mentioned, but I feel like I'm missing something.

From what i understand from Wimba and FSO, there don't seem to be other parts, but I just want to be sure.

This was an interesting wimba session.

It seemed to be basically a recap of the syllabus and videos that were already posted in FSO, but there was some good clarifying information for the leadership assignment and abstract. I am a little uncertain about what is due by the end of the month for the leadership project though. I'm sorry i couldn't be present to ask this in person.

Thankfully, this wedding stuff (not mine! my mother's second) is done this weekend, and I shouldn't have any problem attending future Wimba sessions.

I look forward to interacting with everyone next week!

  1. Thanks for reviewing the archive and sorry about the sound quality. Leadership project, first complete draft due at the end of the month, doesn't have to be perfect, but should be complete enough to communicate what the next/final version should be. Written text around 2,000 words/presentations about 1500 words in speakers notes. We will share our projects during the week 4 wimba session and I will grade them at the end of the week. Note from Dr. Bedard is what I will look at when I review your capstone website at the end of week 2/spring break - 4/15 and it should have everything complete up to the phase/cycle pages and abstract added to the presentation page. The reflection/summary page will need to be completed before the beginning of month 12, but I will not grade it in month 11. Great questions.
